How to include your groom.

Here is a list from Bride’s magazine of 20 things that grooms like to do…

1. Asking his best friend to be his best man
2. Designing your wedding Web site
3. Working on the playlist
4. Picking out the appetizers
5. Creating a wedding microbrew
6. Choosing what he will wear
7. Comparing cake flavors
8. Researching the honeymoon
9. Figuring out the map/ direction cards
10. Going to the menu tasting
11. Proofreading invitations, programs, etc. (guys like to find mistakes)
12. Wielding the scan gun when you register
13. Getting a day-before massage
14. Choosing your wedding-day ride
15. Writing his vows (you’d be surprised!)
16. Attending the bachelor party
17. Unwrapping presents
18. Deciding on the wines
19. Organizing pyrotechnics of any type– fireworks, sparklers, etc.
20. Practicing the first kiss

Planning your wedding may seem like the brides role but remember to include your groom. There are certain things that may be important to him and he should have some say in his day too. Make this wedding day a team effort to plan. Even if your groom doesn’t want to go with you to pick out the flowers at least run an idea or two about the flowers by him (it will make him feel great that you want his input on something that you care about).

Enjoy your engagement together : )

Luxe for less.

[Silk taffeta Sascha gown $1,500]

How luxe does this dress look? Does it look like it is $1,500? I think not. This dress is from Jcrew’s wedding dress line. All of their dresses are great for brides on a tight budget who don’t want to skimp on style (dresses range from $250-$3,000). The great thing about some of these dresses is that they are simple silhouettes that will flatter most body types. Also, each dress can be made unique with such things as a broach, ribbon, appliqué, etc.

Jcrews dresses could also be great for brides who aren’t on a small budget. They could be a second dress they slip into during their reception or even just a great dress they bring on their honeymoon for a nice dinner (note: accessorize it up if your not wearing it on your wedding day).

Regardless these dresses have a great style without breaking the bank and have room to be personalized for each bride.

Below are some of the dresses from Jcrew’s line. To see the entire collection check out their website.

Miss Dior Cherie Commercial by Sofia Coppola

Not only has this advertisement spawned happy thoughts and feelings but it has also given inspiration to many engagement shoots. It seems that balloons are all the rise…

Below are numerous engagement shoots that feature the fabulous accessory.

Bridal show recap.

The bridal show I participated in this past Sunday went so great! I met so many great people that hopefully I will be working with in the near future.

Here are a couple photos that I took of my booth before the whole thing got started [note: I am not a photographer and these photos aren't great].

Photobucket
[Clockwise from top left: The overall look of the table; A close up of the chandelier and sign (I really loved the mix of rustic and elegant); The raffle station; A picture my assistant Danielle and me before we left (she is the best!)]

See the connection between the postcard (see previous post) and the table’s look [hint: linen pattern and chandelier]. I was really going for a cohesive message/ look. Do you love?

Bridal show.

This Sunday (January 31st) there is a bridal show at the Radisson in Newport Beach from 11:00-4:00.

I will have a booth set-up, come see me and chat (look for the chandelier)!

Chalk it up.

Incorporating blackboard into your wedding can become a unique twist to expected aspects of your wedding. This couple actually met in grade school and so a back-to-school theme was a fun homage to their past.

Below is a fun way to do place-cards Each guest’s place is outlined in chalk and labeled with their name.
Photobucket

Below is a neat way to do your guest-book. Each guest can decorate the chalk board as he or she pleases. A Polaroid is then taken of them and placed in a book for them to sign next to. Also a second Polaroid can be taken of each guest and given to them as a take-away memento of the special day.

Handmade jewelry.

Handmade jewelry can be a great option for a bride on a budget or who just likes things with a bit more of a personal touch. These accessories could be great to give as gifts to your bridal party or even to wear yourself!

Here is the link to get the steps for each piece.

Giving a piece of jewelry as a gift to your bridal party can connect you for a long time past the wedding day. All of your girls could wear their piece on the day of your wedding and the jewelry will become a great memento in remembering that special day together. Each of these pieces can easily translate from special occasion to everyday attire.

A fabulous summer wedding.

Photobucket
You may recognize this photo from my website. This wedding was one of my favorites that I worked on this past summer. The color palette was just so aesthetically pleasing and the bridal party was so fun and lively. AND just how cute are the flower girls in those tutus?!

Below are some of my favorite shots that Matthew Morgan got of their day. I really love how Matt’s photos weren’t posed and really captured the essence of this couple and their friends. Enjoy : )
